New Species of Mushrooms were
Discovered.
Very recently in the city of London, Bryn Dentinger and Laura Martinez-Suz, mycologists at the Royal Botanic Gardens discovered three new types of mushrooms. But this mushrooms were not funded in the middle of the woods, neither in the middle of a rain forest, but they were founded in a package of dried porcini mushrooms from a grocery store in southwest greater London.
After founding this rare mushroom species the scientist, using a technique called DNA barcoding they tested this mushrooms. The technique involves matching the DNA profile of a sample to a database of known species so they can identify the sample. But in three out of 15 pieces tested from the porcini mushroom package, no match was found. This means that this mushrooms are new.
"None of them had
scientific names, so these were essentially new species to science,"
Dentiger told CBC science columnist Torah Kachur. "And we found three different species in the 15
pieces that we sampled from."
Do you think that there are more existing plant or animal species in the natural world than the ones we know?
Do you think that this kind of evolutions can cause a problem in the future?
I think that there are animals that humans haven't discover. There are many places in the world that humans haven't reach jet. Maybe there are new animals or species that had existed and that we thought they were gone.
ReplyDeleteI think that there are more plants and animals that we haven't discovered yet. I think this because in the 15 mushrooms in the bunch, there were only three that were different. That could mean that if you see many plants together in a field and you tried to look for a different one, you probably would not be able to find it even if there was 1 or 2 that were different. Because you would not be able to find the plants that are different, we would not be able to realize that there were any ones that were different. Also, because of this reason, we have not been able to find new plants, but one day, I think, that someone will find some of the different species that are hiding and trying not to be found. Next, maybe there are animals that stay up in trees all the time, and because they have never came down, we have never discovered them. There could also be animals like insects that can camouflage with the things around it and are very small so we can’t see them! This would lead to the fact that we cannot find other animal species in the wild or anywhere else either. As you can see, there are many reasons why we can’t find other plants and animals, but I believe that there is definitely something out in this world that we have not discovered, YET!
ReplyDeleteI think there's thousand species of organisms that humans have not discovered yet, maybe ones more dangerous than others, but I don't think there will be problems, first, they'll have to study these species to be careful and know how the live and what they do.
ReplyDeleteI truly believe that there are plants, animals and bacteria that humans have not found yet. The world is so big, I do not think it is possible to have found every possible living thing. Some new species could be developing itself right now making it unknown to humans. I think that when scienctist look from new species, they only look for the obvious species that are; camouflage, big, small, live in trees, fly, swim, walk. I think that todays modern sceincetist should open there eyes to let new things be created and found. New species would be great or it could be bad. Bad because it could affect our survival and good if it is a harmless specie that can be put into testing to found out new things. Mushrooms are not the only new things created.
ReplyDeleteI think that there are many more plant and animal species that haven't been discovered yet. I think this because there are some places that have animals and plants in them that people haven't discovered. For example, the deepest part of the Pacific ocean is approximately 36,200 feet deep So this simply says, someone can't just swim all the way down there one day. Some animals have been discovered at the deepest parts of the ocean, because at night time, it comes to more shallow water (still extremely deep.) Most of the animals are unlike others in the world, because at the bottom of the ocean, it is pitch black, and these animals have adapted to it, having sources of light built in there body. Although they have found animals in the deepest parts of the ocean, there are probably still many plant species that will not be discovered until humans have the technology to actually go down there. In addition, there are probably other places in the earth that we are not yet ready to discover, and there are probably many organisms waiting to be discovered.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that there is other plants that we don't know yet because we just don't put our attention on it. The world is so big that I'm sure there is a lot of new species that we don't know. I think we might be a threat for new species because we don't know them and it might hide or maybe new species are already dead because of pollution, bigger city...
