An Animal Gamble in the Arctic

Ice in Arctic waters shrank this summer to the sixth-lowest level in 36 years of monitoring, the National Snow and Ice Data Center reported Monday. The ice reached its seasonal minimum on Wednesday, at 1.9 million square miles. That is down only slightly from 2013 but is still 19 percent below average.
The Arctic is changing — fast. Two experts who have spent decades working there believe that the marine mammals who call the high latitudes home are now locked into a human-forced ecological game of chance. Jeffery DelViscio
Scientists are concerned about the ice melting from human-caused global warming because the melting may change the weather farther south. Studies have linked the ice melting to changes in the jet stream, which can produce extreme weather. Ice in Antarctic waters, meanwhile, is hitting record-high levels, which scientists attribute to local climatic conditions.  I think that one day the water will get so high that it will start spreading.

questions:  Do you think that this could cause lots of problems?
Do you think that this problem could continue?

  1. It could cause many problems, and I have a feeling the water will spread and overflow one day, but definitely no time soon.
It most likely will continue, in my opinion. But I may be wrong, I am just a child.

  2. Thinking about this, this problem can cause a lot of problems, and very serious problems. All the living life in the Artic is going to get alliterated and the ocean currents are going to change because of the cold water.
If we don't change right now we are going to continue with this problems and they are going to become worse.

  3. I agree with Alyssa because I think that this could cause a huge problem. when I think about this I think to myself: Where will all of this water go once the ice melts? This could be a problem because the marine mammals need this because it is their home and without it they would not survive. Yes I think that this problem could continue because that the planet will not stop warming up if no one starts to treat the planet more respectively. I do not think that the ice will be melting very soon but we should still start changing the way we treat our planet because it will affect the future of the Earth and the humans who live on it.
